GERMANY
West Berlin
My family lived in Berlin for almost 3 years from Dec 1985 to 1988. My husband was stationed at Templehof Air Base while serving in the Air Force. Transportation was very efficien in Berlin. Berlin even had their own bike lanes with stop lights so it was easy to take a bike anywhere in the city. The UBahns, SBahns and buses also provided punctual, clean transportation. There were many things to do in this international city. Tons of museums, gardens and they even had a wonderful forest, called the Grunewald,to go to when you got tired of the city.
ITALY
San Vito dei Normanni
San Vito was a little Air Force base in the Province of Brindisi Italy. I was stationed in San Vito for a year. The base was small and not a lot to do so the place everyone went to find a little fun was the town of Brindisi.

ZooSafari is unlike any other zoo I have ever visited. It is located a little over a mile from Fasano, Italy and it is on about 150 acres of land. When you visit you stay in your vehicle and drive through the zoo while the animals are outside. So much more humane than putting them in cages while you visit them in a regular zoo.

One nice little place they have in Berlin is the Grunewald forest where you can go take a walk, swim, hike, bicycle, picnic, or go boating When you get tired of the city this is the place to go and just relax.
We took trips to the forest to hike, bike ride and swim. It was a nice refuge from city life.
Cuxhaven,
Germany
My husband and I went on a bicycle trip while we were
living in Berlin. We took our Bicycles on the train to from Berlin, GE
to Cuxhaven, GE via Bremerhaven, GE.
They have lovely bike
trails all throughout Germany and we had no issues of us getting in the
way of cars or not seen.

One of the fountains in the city. I think it is called the Anchor Fountain.
This was a nice little tourist guide of the city I picked up while there. Although it is written in German, it gives you an idea of all the things you can find to do or see in the town.

They served the best Gelato I have ever eaten anywhere. I don't know if they are still in business or not. |
